Case Study 1 : Turning a Church Event Into Profit

Case Study 1 : Turning a Church Event Into Profit

Client: Local Church, McDonough, Georgia
Challenge: Member engagement, event profitability, and marketing effectiveness

THE  CHALLENGE

This particular church was struggling with member retention and consistent event turnout, with many gatherings running at a financial loss. Leadership wanted to create an event that not only attracted new and existing members, but also engaged the community in a meaningful way—without requiring them to cover costs out of pocket. Their goal was to design an experience that offered both spiritual enrichment and community connection, giving attendees an opportunity to feel inspired, welcomed, and more deeply connected to the church’s mission.

OUR APPROACH

We were given full creative control to reimagine their Sip & Paint event as a pilot for a profitable, engaging model. The strategy focused on three key areas:

1. Pricing & Positioning

  • Tickets set at $30, covering materials and overhead while remaining accessible.
  • A limited number of tickets created urgency and demand.

2. Digital Marketing & Engagement

  • Social media polls and targeted posts increased pre-event buzz.
  • Members shared content, boosting organic reach and interest.
  • Engagement on posts increased 45% compared to previous campaigns.

3. Visual Branding & Experience Design

  • Upgraded graphics and event materials created a professional, welcoming feel.
  • A structured itinerary from 1 PM – 4 PM included welcome, painting, intermission, and reflection.
  • Created a memorable, interactive experience that encouraged community connection.

THE RESULTS

The event exceeded expectations:

  • 100% ticket sales, including additional tickets added due to demand (+25% capacity).
  • 32% profit margin—the first event that didn’t require church funds.
  • 60% of attendees were non-members, expanding community outreach.
  • 18% increase in Sunday attendance following the event.
  • 98% positive feedback on the event experience.

THE IMPACT

This pilot event became a model for future gatherings, showing that this particular faith-based organizations can:

  • Host profitable events without compromising mission.
  • Engage the community effectively with strategic marketing and branding.
  • Build stronger connections with current and prospective members.

This church has since applied this approach to multiple events, achieving consistent attendance, engagement, and financial sustainability.
